Neo Retro Soul Solution (good name for a band?)

Monday February 26, 2007
Wreaking of fun and creativityToday's Surfboards have become boring. There I said it...The outlines are identical. Tail designs are limited. Tri-fins reign supreme. The pros compete on essentially the same equipment. I guess that's why all eyes have been aimed toward the past lately. 70's retro shortboards and other classic designs are infusing energy into local lineups. Sure, the closing of super blank producer Clark Foam has forced the industry into a period of research and development, and the cult of Laird Hamilton has ushered in some the most breathtaking changes in big wave surfing's history. But the everday surfer needs something to stay stoked. The Grunion from 9:Fish might just be the fountain of youth for bored waveriders tired of their of their old "board and chain."
