What could a surfing dad ask for? Forget the power tools and other TV propaganda. That's just an order for dad to do more work. Not cool. A new board? That sounds cool, but Father's Day isn't about buying stuff. How about just loading up with Dad and heading out for a session? That's where it's at, baby! For me, I got a pre-Father's Day gift when my 7-year-old son learned to paddled into waves on his own yesterday. I just swam and screamed with stoke and enthusiasm. It was insane, and I was literally spazzing out. So after yesterday's events, I wake up this morning with an invitation from both my kids, son and daughter, to go surfing. Mathematically speaking, that's twice as cool as yesterday...another full day of surfing with my kids. It's the Father's Day I dreamed about...no gifts...no stuff...just smiles all around. Although, I might have to sit down to a plate of ribs at some point today.
