Likewise, Joel Guy has put Bruce in the spotlight in a slick, simple, high-energy surf flick packed with radical surfing in heavy waves and peppered it with a little mellow island soul.
In Crossing the Line (42 minutes), Bruce Irons puts the pedal to the metal all over the world but most notably in on his home turf of Hawaii: macking Pipe, Hanalei Bay, and other nameless beauties. However, he does get some WCT help from his brother Andy, Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson, and (Holy *%$#@!) Corey Lopez driving straplessly through Teahopu's deadliest cavern to date. Several Kauai Boys also put in strong performances in their wave-rich motherland.
Powered by music from the Chilli Peppers, Boom Bap Project, Spiral, Barbacoa, THC, Shilo Pa, Eric Valverde, Dragonfly, Pepper, Malachi, and Chris Casale, the vibe sways from rock to Hawaiian to rap and beyond. Also, check out the DVD wipeout extras, and the creative closing credit sequence.
Crossing the Line is great as a pre-surf energizer or an evening retrospect.
