Impact Zone

Definition: The spot where a surfer receives the worst beating after wiping out or paddling out. This is where the waves break most consistently and ferociously. The impact zone is where the falling lip of each set wave usually meets the water.
Also Known As: pit washing machine
Examples: After that last wave, I got caught in the impact zone, snapped my board, and had to swim to the beach.
