Set

By Jay DiMartino, About.com

Definition: A set is the largest group of waves in a swell. A set comes at regular intervals and can be dangerous in large waves. The time between sets can be approximated in large waves to help with paddling out.Usually, sets come in waves of 5 to 7 waves at a time.
Examples: I'm timing the sets, so I don't get worked by those giant sets.
