After spending a good portion of my life living and working in Hawaii, I always look back at the casual style and Aloha attitude with a smile. There is not another state in America where an untucked flower shirt and slippers are considered accepted work attire. That's why I was excited when I received a handmade Aloha shirt from Wave Shoppe, a grassroots operation out of San Diego, California.
Solid Construction with Sweet Surf Style
The shirt I received is a handmade polyester button up shirt packed with genuine Hawaiian style patterns and created in the image of the classic Hawaiian Aloha casual/work shirt, boasting real coconut buttons. This shirt is brimming with surf style, and I found the construction to be solid and comfortable without a hint of that Wal-Mart mass-production cookie cutter look. This is the real Hawaiian deal but without the real Hawaiian price. According to the Wave Shoppe website, they utilize polyesters, cottons, microfiber, rayon and poly/cotton blends, and some of their seamstresses have over 25 years of experience making Hawaiian shirts.I found the prices at Wave Shoppe to be much lower than their overseas competitors; in fact, their prices are around 40% lower than their Hawaiian counterparts and higher in quality than the imports from India and China.
The bottom line is that these shirts are handmade in America using quality products.
