Can you surf at night?

By Jay DiMartino, About.com

Question: Can you surf at night?
Answer: Yes! And it can prove to be quite exhilarating. However, as you can imagine, night surfing carries with it many dangers like sharks, injuries, and becoming lost at sea. The trick is to surf under a full moon, wear very bright clothing (tee-shirt and baggies), surf with a group (separate enough for safety), and be sure to hoot and holler the whole session to let your friends know where you are.

Avoid surfing outer reefs or during a building swell as things could quickly get out of hand. Sandy bottoms are always a plus since sharp reef could lead to some serious blood in the water.
