That's a good question since surf trips aren't quite as simple as they used to be. But even with advanced equipment and a much more complicated and nuanced map of surf spots to choose from, surfers can still steal away for some satisfying surf travel action with just a few basics. Here's what you need to pack for your trip:
#1. Bring more than one surfboard on your trip.
At the very least, bring a board for the conditions you are hoping for and one for pitiful surf to insure you will surf every day of your trip. It might be helpful to have one board when you travel for bigger or gnarlier waves than normal. Just be sure that you have your magic board and a back-up.#2. Pack your surfboard's essentials
Before your surf trip, pack fins (and an extra set with a fin key), leashes, and plenty of wax (match the wax's temperature range to the travel location you are targeting) and even a wax comb.#3. Pack a ding repair kit just in case.
These kits are small and cheap, and you don't want your board to take on water, slice up your legs, or lose its integrity, so add a ding repair kit to your surf travel essentials.#4. Pack plenty of the following:
Sunscreen, boardshorts, wetsuits and lycra, wax, and first aid material will make your travel safer and more enjoyable.Depending on your surf destination, these supplies will vary. You may need serious bug repellent and malaria pills for some locales or a tent and other camping gear for others.
