Surf Stronger- -Fitness DVD

Good surfing happens through creativity, passion, and confidence. But before these forces spark your shred engine into gear, you have to be flexible and strong. That’s easily done for the umpteen teeny boppers hopping 5 foot airs off of every lip and chunk of chop, but it gets more challenging if you are little farther along in your years.
While it’s great to cross-train by hitting the gym, the wrong workout may actually tighten the wrong muscles, thus detracting from your total surf performance level.

That’s where Surf Stronger steps in. This 45 minute DVD is geared specifically towards working your surf muscles. Beginning with warm-up stretches that directly mimic specific surf maneuvers, Surf Stronger then moves into strength training. Again, these exercises target the lower back, knees, shoulders, and chest which are the most essential body parts in surfing stronger, faster, and longer.

The post workout section shifts into full yoga mode with total body stretches that really pull on the right strings to make your muscles more pliable.

I completed the entire workout and was impressed first with the length of the DVD. It's not some marathon that takes the whole afternoon. It makes sense that this workout could be done before or between sessions or even for a quick after work stress releaser.

I liked the soundtrack too. There are some funky surf jams as well as a couple trippy grooves that set a cool vibe for the Surf Stronger workout.

Be sure you understand that you will need a yoga ball, barbells, and a yoga mat as well. The fitness ball and weights are not included. The average male will want a pair of 12 or 15 lbs. dumbbells and also a pair of 5 lbs. dumbbells. The average female will want a pair of 8 or 10 lbs. dumbbells and also a pair of 2 or 5 lbs. dumbbells.

Overall, the Surf Stronger workout is a total body experience that is part weight training and part yoga, but it isn't a full on beating. I finished the DVD feeling loose and strong but still ready for a full session.
