Surf Stronger Volume 2

By , About.com Guide

A few years back, I reviewed the first Surf Stronger DVD. It was a solid product with a great program that was a combonation of stretches and resistence specifically geared toward strengthening and lengthening your surf-specific muscles. Now, Surf Stronger has release Volume 2, Core Training.
This newest release is a pared down version with a shorter and more focused array of exercises. All exercises are demonstrated by Pro surfer Serena Brooke who is not only a fitness specimen but also a hot surfer, which is evident in the many clips of her shredding perfect waves in between exercises.

I like the shorter version because it's more suited to a quick pre-surf warm up and strengthening regimen, one that doesn't make you sore but rather leaves you loose and relaxed. Muscle stiffness is the surfer’s worst enemy in the water. The Surf Stronger regimen consists of three levels and culminates a one-stop stretch and strengthen routine.

The music leaves a bit to be desired, but the program is great. And you can't go wrong with training instructions that state "For best results, surf as much as possible." Sounds like instructions for life to me. Produced by Todd Walsh and designed by fitness professional, Scott Adams, Surf Stronger Core Training Volume 2 is a focused, practical routine that left me feeling loose and strong and ready to surf.
