Loads of of hot, modern ripping and the cream of the surfing crop throw down around the world in this on-going visual document. Pomer has been recording the state of today's surfing in The Kill series since 1992.
However, I decided to check it out once more before writing this review. It was then that I realized why so many modern films focus on guys like Kelly Slater, Chris Ward, Andy Irons and their professional contemporaries. They surf infinitely better than the rest of us!
The Kill Seven illustrates how our top athletes are pushing high performance surfing to the next level so that mere mortals can apply these ideas locally. This film is a snapshot of the hottest surfing in the world, right now.
I was especially impressed by Dane Reynolds who exhibits the raw talent that has made him an American juggernaut, taking down the biggest names in the surf world and setting the bar higher with each wave. Then Tom Curren ices the proverbial cake with the slithering style and seething soul that made him a timeless figure on the surfing landscape.
Overall, I was not blown away by a storm of originality, but I thoroughly enjoyed the barrage of blazing manuevers and quality waves of all sizes. This is a film that begs to be re-played.
