Definition: Draining is a verb used in conjunction with a helping verb such as "is" or "was" to indicate a thick, wedging wave and to describe the way in which it sucks up off a (usually) shallow bottom and then subsequently bowls up and barrels. It can also be used as a noun as in "drainer".
Pronunciation: dray-ning
Also Known As: sucking-up, pitting, wedging
Common Misspellings: drayning, draning
Examples: After that last wave mushed out on the outside, it started draining over the inside reef and then just barreled all the way to the channel.
