Stick

By Jay DiMartino, About.com

surfboard

This stick has seen better days

Jay DiMartino
Definition: Even before surfboards transformed from boards to twigs and guns, surfers just called their beloved ride a "stick." This noun sounds so lackluster and emotionless for something so special, but go figure. Trunks and shacks and such also sound pretty lame. So to clarify, stick means surfboard.
Also Known As: board, ride, blade, magic carpet, gun
Common Misspellings: stic, stik
Examples: When we get to the Hawaii, the surf will be giant, so be sure to take at least two sticks in case one breaks.
